CV come a brief history

1984

Left Brinsworth Comprehensive School and started at the University of Nottingham (Dep't of Genetics and Biochemistry).

1988

Left University of Nottingham with a degree in Genetics and Biochemistry (joint honours) and started at Bangor University (Dep't of Biochemistry and Soil Science).

1990

Started at Leeds University working on lung infections in Cystic Fibrosis.

1992

Started work in the new Molecular Medicine Unit for Prof Sir Alex Markham.

1994

Started and subsequently attained a PhD on Sorbitol Dehydrogenase and the Secondary Complications of Diabetes.

1997

Started to create web pages with embedded Java applets.

1998

Switched to desktop applications created with MS VB6.

Switched from bench science to software development of bioinformatics solutions.

2009

Completed Math module MST121 with the Open University, this was the initial step to obtain a 'Certificate in Mathematics'.

2010

Completed Math module MS221 with the Open University and gained a 'Certificate in Mathematics'.

2011

Completed Computing module M255 - Object-oriented programming with Java with the Open University, this was step 1 of 4 to obtain a 'Diploma in Computing'.
Completed Computing module M364 - Fundamentals of interaction design with the Open University, this was step 2 of 4 to obtain a 'Diploma in Computing'.

Started to develop applications for Andriod phones and tablets

2012

Completed Computing module M362 - Developing concurrent distributed systems with the Open University, this was step 3 of 4 to obtain a 'Diploma in Computing'.

Switched from VB.NET to C#.net to allow the creation of Windows applications which use the .NET enviorment and Unix systems using the Mono enviorment.

2013

Became a Lecturer in Medical Bioinformatics with responsibility for the University of Leeds’ next generation sequencing facility.

Completed Computing module MT264 Designing applications with Visual Basic with the Open University, this was step 4 of 4 to obtain a 'Diploma in Computing'.

Obtained a 'Diploma in Computing' from the Open University and I can now use 'Dip Comp (Open)' after my name.
